If you’re traveling to Qatar or already living there, there are actually two different things people mean when they say “check my Qatar visa”: checking your visa number before or during travel, and checking your Qatar ID (QID) once you’ve entered the country. This guide covers both, side by side, so you know exactly which service to use and when.
Already applied and waiting for a decision? This page is for verifying an existing visa/ID number. If you want to know how long processing normally takes and what each status stage means, see our MOI visa processing stage tracker for 2026 instead.
Visa already approved and you need to download or print it? Head to our guide on checking your visa status online for the print/download and authenticity steps.
Visa Check vs ID Check: What’s the Difference?
How to Check Your Qatar Visa Number Online
Go to the official Ministry of Interior (MOI) portal.

Select Inquiries → Visa Services.

Enter your passport number and select your nationality.

Complete the CAPTCHA verification.
Click Submit to view your current visa status.
Your result will typically show one of the following: Under Process, Approved/Ready to Print, Rejected, or Expired. If your status comes back rejected, our breakdown of common Qatar visa rejection reasons explains what to do next.
How to Check Your Qatar ID (QID) Status
- On the MOI portal, select Inquiries → ID Card Inquiry instead of Visa Services.
- Enter your QID number (or passport number if the ID hasn’t been issued yet).
- Submit to see whether your card is In Production, Ready for Collection, or Active.
If you’re a first-time visitor or new resident and haven’t completed fingerprinting yet, note that ID issuance is linked to your appointment, see our guide on MOI biometric enrollment for visitors to understand that step first.
Cross-Checking a Visa or ID’s Authenticity
Checking status is different from verifying that a visa document itself is genuine. Recruitment scams and fake visa copies are common enough that we’ve written a dedicated guide: how to check if a Qatar visa is original or fake. If you were given a visa copy by an agent or employer and something looks off, check that guide before you travel.
If Your Visa or Residency Has Been Cancelled
Sponsors sometimes cancel visas or residence permits without clearly informing the worker. If you suspect your visa/ID may have been cancelled, use our separate Qatar visa cancellation status check guide rather than the standard visa inquiry, since cancelled records display differently on the portal.
Health Card Note
Once your QID is active, you’ll also need a Qatar Health Card to access public healthcare. That process and its own online check are covered separately in our Qatar Health Card check guide.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can I check my Qatar ID with just my passport number?
Only before the QID is issued. Once it’s active, the system will ask for the QID number specifically.
Is the ID Card Inquiry service free?
Yes, both the Visa Inquiry and ID Card Inquiry services on the MOI portal are free to use.
My QID shows “In Production” for over 2 weeks is that normal?
It can take 1–3 weeks depending on the visa category. If it’s been longer, contact your sponsor or visit a Qatar Visa Center directly, see our Qatar Visa Center appointment booking guide.
What’s the difference between this and the “MOI Qatar Visa Check 2026” page?
This page covers the actual how-to for checking a visa number or ID card number at any time. Our MOI Qatar Visa Check 2026 page focuses specifically on tracking an application through its processing stages before it’s approved.
